De-Icers

Kasco De-icers are perfect for preventing costly ice damage due to jacking/lifting, ice expansion, and winter-kill conditions. Kasco De-Icers are industrial strength and designed and engineered to withstand the harshest marine environments making Kasco THE LEADER IN ICE CONTROL ENGINEERING! Kasco Marine, Inc. offers several sizes, models, and mounting options of De-Icers to accommodate almost every application and condition. With sizes of 1/2, 3/4, and 1hp and units available in 120V or 240V, Kasco De-Icers easily fit your location and electrical requirements. Kasco De-Icers can be suspended by ropes, mounted on an optional Universal Dock Mount, or attached to an optional Horizontal Float for operation in many conditions. Also, optional De-Icer Controllers (C-10 and C-20) can be added to the De-Icing system to help control electric bills.

De-Icing is accurately referred to as an art form more than an exact science. Each application and location is different and there is no set rule in determining how many De-Icers are needed for a given area or which mounting option is the best. The effectiveness of your Kasco De-Icer depends on many factors. Keep in mind the following table is to be used as a general guideline and each situation is different. Each De-Icer boasts the following staples of Kasco equipment:

• Longer-life top and bottom ball bearings
• Environmentally friendly oil-filled motor with a hard-face internal mechanical seal and external lip seal for protection against leaks.
• Flood oil lubricated for excellent heat dissipation.
• Highly efficient, lower power consumption than competitive equipment
• Superior dependability in salt-water or other corrosive environments. All external metal motor, float, and hardware components are of stainless steel composition and protected by a sacrificial zinc anode.
• Requires minimal maintenance. We recommend cleaning the stainless steel motor housing once or twice per year and replacing the sacrificial zinc anode when visibly corroded.

Mounting Options

 

Rope Suspension

Each Kasco De-Icer includes two 20' mooring ropes for suspension below a dock or boat. These mooring ropes are included with the package and work extremely well in many applications where a dock or boat is available to suspend the De-Icer from and the water is at least 4-5' deep.

Universal Dock Mount

Kasco offers the Universal Dock Mount as a mounting option for all De-Icers. This mounting option works well in applications where a dock is available to mount the unit to and in water towers where having several angling options of the De-Icer is desired.

Horizontal Flotation Unit

Kasco offers a Horizontal Flotation Unit as another mounting option for all De-Icers. The Horizontal Flotation Unit option works well in applications where no dock or boat is available to mount the unit to, where large tidal fluctuations occur, and in shallow water applications.

 

De-Icer Controllers

NEW C-10 Thermostat Controller

Kasco's NEW C-10 Thermostat Controller is an inexpensive way to control the operation of your De-Icer. The C-10 uses an Air Temperature Thermostat to turn the De-Icer on when the temperature drops below a set point that you decide. The C-10 will save you money on your electric bill and pay for itself with savings. One C-10 controls one 120V De-Icer.

 

 

 

 

 

C-20 Timer/Thermostat Controller

Kasco Marine, Inc. offers the C-20 Time and Temperature Control Box to control the amount of use of the De-Icer and to save on your electrical bill. One C-20 will control one 120V De-Icer and is a great addition to a De-Icing system. It uses BOTH an Air Temperature Thermostat and a Timer Clock to operate the De-Icer. It will pay for itself with electrical savings.
